According to the Central Bank’s latest statistics, Sri Lanka’s earnings from tourism in the first eight months of 2022 have increased to $ 892.8 million (Rs. 246 billion).
This is a significant increase compared to the previous year, as tourism earnings in the first eight months of 2021 only amounted to $ 63.5 million.
Earning from tourism in the month of August 2022 alone was recorded at $ 67.9 million.
The number of tourists who arrived in Sri Lanka in August 2022 was 37,760 and the total number of tourist arrivals in the first eight months of the year was 496,430.
